Florida Could Suspend Carvana’s Dealer License For Not Submitting Title Applications

<!––>

<!––>

Florida could suspend Carvana’s dealer license after it has failed to transfer the titles of some vehicles sold.

Carvana was reportedly notified of the issues in an email sent by Florida authorities last week. This email is said to have included a spreadsheet that showed 300 Carvana vehicle sales dating back to 2019 that had not had their titles transferred. More than 100 of these vehicle sales occurred in Florida.

State law in Florida requires retailers to apply for a title within 30 days of completing a sale. Speaking with Auto News, a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said Carvana has until January 31 to submit title applications for all the vehicles it sold in 2021 before December 1.

“The department has been proactively working with Carvana to identify and assist Florida customers who have not received their title in a timely manner, and in accordance with state law,” the spokesperson added. “Florida law allows for the suspension of the dealer’s license if they fail to apply for a transfer of title in a timely manner.”

This isn’t the first time Carvana has been scrutinized for not delivering titles in time. Earlier this year it settled with Florida regulators and agreed to pay $500 each to 12 customers who had to wait three to eight months to receive titles on vehicles they purchased. In August, Carvana had its dealer license suspended for 180 days in Wake County, North Carolina for not producing titles fast enough, among other issues.

Carvana sold 244,111 vehicles in the U.S. last year, making it the country’s second-largest retailer of used vehicles. A spokeswoman from the company says Carvana has applied for around 23,500 titles in Florida over the past 12 months.

The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster Defined Italian Supercar Excess In The 2000s

A low-mileage Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster finished in a particularly rare color is currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer.

The Murcielago LP640 was arguably the king of mid-engined supercars in the 2000s and this particular example is finished in a color dubbed Rosso Vic. It is being sold with service records, manufacturer’s literature, an accident-free Carfax report, and an Arizona title.

Beyond the gorgeous red paint, the exterior also features black-painted 18-inch alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero tires measuring 245/35 at the front and 335/30 at the rear. There are also silver-painted brake calipers with black Lamborghini lettering. The car has also been equipped with a front-axle lift system and modified with a Capristo adjustable exhaust system.

The listing notes that while the odometer reads just over 2,000 miles (~3,200 km), a Carfax report reveals that a mileage inconsistency was recorded in July 2014 and a Not Actual Mileage title issued in September 2014. As such, the car’s true mileage is unknown.

Perfectly complementing the exterior of the Murcielago is an interior finished in black and red leather with diamond-pattern inserts on the seats and center tunnel. There is also carbon fiber trim on the door sill guards, center console, instrument panel, and steering wheel.

Power comes courtesy of a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 with 631 hp at 8,000 rpm and 487 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. Power is sent through a six-speed E-gear automated transmission driving all four wheels.

Cadillac Won’t Make An Estate Version Of The CT5-V Blackwing, But You Can Have This CTS-V Wagon Instead

As impressive as the new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is, we think the fact that it isn’t available as a wagon is a pity. Fortunately, anyone wanting a high-performance Cadillac combined with the practicality of a wagon can buy something like this on the used car market.

The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon you’re looking at is a 2013 model and while that means it has some outdated technology compared to the CT5-V Blackwing, it still offers heaps of power. In fact, this particular example has been extensively modified and dyno graphs included in the Bring a Trailer listing confirm it has 781 hp at the rear wheels and 750 lb-ft (1,016 Nm) of torque.

Upgrades made to the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 include an Airaid intake system, American Racing long-tube headers, GM Performance three-bolt cam gear, BTR Stage 3 camshaft, BTR timing chain, BTR valve springs with titanium retainers, BTR trunnion kit, a D3 Crank-mount boost pulley kit, Innovators West lower balance, new spark plug wires, ported throttle body, aftermarket fuel pumps, new fuel injectors, and the ability to run on E85.

The exterior of the car is clad in Black Diamond Tricoat paint and it has been upgraded with a carbon fiber splitter and carbon hood. It also sits on 20-inch wheels from Vossen with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

As with any CTS-V Wagon, the cabin is comfortable for a family and includes heated and ventilated Recaro front seats clad in Ebony leather. The cabin also features dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, navigation, and a custom Audison audio system with a 1,000-watt amplifier.

The listing confirms the car has only been driven 26,000 miles (~41,800 km) and since Cadillac won’t make a CT5-V Blackwing Wagon, this remains the next best thing.

Race-Winning 2010 McLaren F1 Car Driven By Lewis Hamilton Sells For $6.6 Million

The McLaren MP4-25A driven by Lewis Hamilton to victory at the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix sold for £4,836,000 ($6.6 million) during a special auction event live during last weekend’s British Grand Prix.

This was the first time that an F1 car driven by Lewis Hamilton had been offered for public sale. Chassis No. 01 didn’t just take the British driver to victory at the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix, but was also used by Hamilton when he secured a second place finish at the 2010 Chinese GP. It was also driven by Jenson Button to a third-place finish at the season-ending race in Abu Dhabi.

The MP4-25A is now the second-most expensive F1 car ever sold at auction, only trailing Michael Schumacher’s 2001 Ferrari F2001 that went under the hammer for £5,449,607 ($7.5 million) in 2017.

“It is not often that a car as special as this comes to market, from the start we knew it truly represented an unrepeatable opportunity,” car specialist and global head of private sales at RM Sotheby’s Shelby Myers said. “RM Sotheby’s is fortunate to have an ongoing partnership in place with Formula 1, and so we always hoped to provide a unique environment in which to present the McLaren and to conduct the auction while the car was at speed was a true first.

“Sir Lewis Hamilton’s achievements in the sport are so remarkable that they may never be bettered, and so cars with which he is associated are likely to be the most coveted in the decades to come. We are delighted that this fantastic car has found a new home and we hope it see on the track again in the near future.”

Pristine 242-Mile McLaren F1 Expected To Sell For Over $15 Million

A pristine 1995 McLaren F1 is heading to auction in August and is expected to sell for in excess of $15 million.

McLaren only ever built 106 examples of the F1 and of these, only 64 were road-going models. It is rightfully regarded as one of the most iconic supercars ever designed and in the last decade, prices have jumped by upwards of 500 percent.

This particular McLaren F1 is chassis 029 and has been rarely seen in public, according to Gooding & Company. In fact, it has spent most of its life hidden in a Japanese collection and rarely been driven. The car is currently owned by an individual in the United States who has also kept it well preserved. It has less than 390 km (242 miles) on the clock, making it one of the lowest-mileage F1s in existence, and remains in its original condition and even includes the original Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Watch Also: Making Sure A McLaren F1 Is Squeaky Clean Requires A Lot Of Care

Adorning the exterior of the car is a one-off color dubbed Creighton Brown that was named after the man who was McLaren’s commercial director while the F1 was developed and produced. Meanwhile the interior sports a mixture of Light Tan and Dark Brown leather.

The car is being sold with its original service book, owner’s manual, FACOM tool chest, titanium tool kit, fitted luggage, TAG Heuer watch, and the ‘Driving Ambition’ book that each F1 was delivered with.

It’s not very often that an ultra low-mileage McLaren F1 comes up for sale so, given that examples that hit the used car market usually go for crazy money anyway, $15 million doesn’t sound so outrageous in that context.

The Sexy 2002 Speedbird That Launched Chip Foose’s TV Career Can Be Yours For 50 Grand

Named SEMA’s 2003 Best of Show, the Ford Foose Speedbird has some provenance. And now it’s being offered for sale on eBay.

One of three Thunderbirds given to hot rodders in 2002, the Ford customizing program was meant to get people excited for the new 11th generation Thunderbird. This one was designed by Chip Foose (the other two were done by So-Cal Speed Shop and Bobby Alloway), who would later come to prominence in the era’s TV hot rodding scene.

Although it’s still recognizably a 2002 Thunderbird, the changes are pretty thorough. Not only was the windshield replaced by a shorter wraparound unit, the front and rear fascias were also replaced, and a new grille insert was added.

The front headlights, meanwhile, came from a Volkswagen Beetle and the whole car was lowered with Eibach springs. One-off 20-inch wheels were designed to match the car’s deeply early-aughts aesthetic.

And there’s actually a pretty good chance that you know that. Or knew it. Because the whole process was documented for the Discovery Channel‘s show Rides. It’s powered by a 3.9-liter V8 making 252 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque that sends its power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. Slowing it down are cross-drilled and slotted four-wheel disc brakes clamped by BAER calipers.

Inside, it has distressed leather bucket seats, white face gauges, and brushed aluminum accents. As a 19-year-old car, the interior certainly looks completely dated now (not that it ever really looked modern to begin with). The stance, to modern eyes, looks a little off and the head unit is classic Ford.

But it’s also deeply representative of that time and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before this becomes historically relevant.

If it’s already relevant enough to catch your interest, you can check out the listing at Kassabian’s Hotcars, which is offering the Speedbird for $49,995.

For Six Figures, You Can Low Ride In Kobe Bryant’s Custom 1963 Chevy Impala

Many lowriders we’ve seen can’t be exactly described as tasteful, but this 1963 Chevrolet Impala owned by the late Kobe Bryant certainly is.

Listed for sale on Goldin Auctions, this Impala was brought into West Coast Customs (WCC) by Bryant’s wife Vanessa in 2006, who commissioned the car for him as a Christmas gift.

The California-based tuning shop began by disassembling the car and blasting the body to bare metal. They then gave a multi-coat paint finish in a mix of purple and royal blue that was custom blended by House of Kolor. The body received all new glass, moldings and weather stripping, while all the chrome was meticulously refinished. The car also features 13-inch 100-spoke Dayton wire wheels shod in Reliant Super Ride tires.

WCC outfitted the interior with all-new white leather upholstery studded with genuine Swarovski crystals, offset by royal blue piping and carpets to complement the exterior. A trunk-mounted stereo system features a powerful Sony amplifier in addition to multiple speakers and subwoofers. Rounding off the interior mods are a power tilt steering wheel and standalone tachometer.

Mind you, the changes made to this Impala weren’t purely aesthetic. The 5.4-liter V8 that originally came with the car was completely rebuilt with custom Edelbrock headers and billet accessories. That engine now feeds a new glasspack dual exhaust setup, and the front brakes were converted from drums to hydraulic discs.

Continuing with the mechanicals, as is the case with lowriders such as this, the suspension was completely customized with a hydraulic system featuring two Pro Hopper “Envious Touch” pumps, three Adel dumps, and front 6″ and rear 12″ cylinders. The whole system has four switches, eight batteries, and eight solenoids. Additionally, the rear end features a coilover setup and molded upper A-arms for improved ride quality.

Considering this car is nearly 60 years old, the fact that it has only 24,729 miles on the odometer is quite impressive. Right now, and with five days until the auction ends, bidding stands at $140,000, but it is expected to sell for up to $250,000.

Who Buys A Pair Of 1979 Lincoln Continentals And Keeps Them With Delivery Mileage For 42 Years?

We always love to see a good story of a regular everyday car that has been incredibly well-preserved. And with this pair of Lincoln Continentals, that’s exactly the case.

Listed for sale on Mecum Auctions, this matching set of two- and four-door 1979 Continentals have, essentially, delivery miles. The Mark V has 10 miles on its odo, and the Town Car sedan just 7!

Read More: Electric Vehicles Are Fundamental To Lincoln’s Future

Both feature a mustard-colored Cream paint, as well as Gold interior. The cars are also mechanically identical, with both having a 6.6-liter V8 engine with 166 hp (168 PS / 124 kW) and 319 lb-ft (433 Nm) of torque mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission.

As we can see in the original sales bills that are included in the auction, in 1979, the sedan Continental as configured cost the buyer $17,717 and the two-door model, $16,251. According to the U.S. bureau of statistics’ inflation calculator, that would be around $62,000 and $67,600 in today’s money.

Naturally, these cars’ existence begs a few interesting questions. Who orders the coupe and sedan versions of the same car? Who orders them in matching specs? And why keep them at such low mileage? Maybe the original owner figured they’d be collector items, though that’s a far fetch.

According to the auction house, the single-owner cars come with the original manual, warranty card, and window sticker, as well as the original bill of sale and other relevant paperwork.

Someone Nabbed An Ex-David Beckham Kahn Design Range Rover Sport For £15,500

Like many sportsmen, former soccer megastar David Beckham is known for having a thing for cars, and this 2007 Range Rover Sport is but one of a number he’s owned.

Being auctioned off on The Market, the Range Rover wears a Kahn body kit, as well as custom 20-inch 5-spoke wheels, and the interior includes amenities like hand-stitched quilted leather seats, rear seat screens, a mini fridge, and a bespoke Genesis sound system.

This Range Rover Sport is powered by the standard 4.2-liter supercharged V8 making 385 hp (390 PS / 287 kW) and 410 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. It goes from 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h) – all respectable numbers for an SUV of its size and age.

The car no longer wears the original ‘DB 1001’ license plates that give away its owner’s identity, but there are a few things that clue us in to car’s celebrity ownership. Notably, the floormats feature David Beckham’s name, as does the Genesis sound system. In addition, there’s a copy of the old vehicle registration showing Beckham’s address and signature.

Even though this SUV has 66,315 miles (106,723 km) on the odometer and is said to be in very good condition, it’s worth mentioning that Range Rovers, especially the ones from this generation, have a reputation for being unreliable vehicles with high maintenance costs. As a result, they suffer from massive amounts of depreciation. To get a sense of how impactful it is, when new it cost six figures, yet five years ago it was for sale for £23,000-25,000.

Now, though, it sold for just £15,500 – which must be one of the cheapest ways for someone to get their hands on a luxurious, celebrity-owned car.

This Gemballa Mirage GT Is One Of Just 25 Examples Built

At the time of its introduction, the Porsche Carrera GT was the finest, road-legal supercar the German automaker had ever created. It was an instant classic and yet despite being applauded by pundits, famed German tuning company Gemballa thought it could do better. The result was the Mirage GT.

Just 25 examples of the Mirage GT have been produced over the years with owners given the ability to spec out each car to their personal tastes, whatever they may be. The example featured is one of the more aggressive cars built and is currently up for sale.

Listed through Alain Class Motors in Dubai, widely regarded as one of the premier supercar/hypercar dealerships in the world, this Mirage GT is adorned in a shade of matte black and complemented by a host of red accents, including the outer edges of the wheels, brake calipers, headlights, and engine cover. Porsche enthusiasts may hate it but it’s certainly one way to stand out, even in Dubai.

In creating the Mirage GT, Gemballa transformed the exterior, developing new front and rear fascias while also adding distinctive side skirts, an enlarged rear wing, and a bespoke engine cover. Modifications continue in the cabin with this car sporting red leather across the seats, steering wheel, and parts of the door panels. The cabin also features areas of exposed carbon fiber and black leather.

Gemballa opted against messing with the Carrera GT’s beloved 5.7-liter V10 engine and only fitted it with a new exhaust system that boosts power up to 645 hp.

No pricing details for this Mirage GT have been provided in the listing, but that kind of tells you something about what it’ll cost you, doesn’t it…
