2022 Toyota Supra Gets A $300 Bump In Price And A New $63k Carbon Fiber Edition

Toyota has announced pricing for the 2022 Supra range and the cost of buying the car has risen, as has the cost of shipping the car to you.

For 2022, the entry-level 2.0-liter Supra rings in at $43,290, $300 more from its base price in 2021, which was $42,990. That’s not the extent of it, though. For 2022, Toyota has also upped its “Delivery Processing & Handling fee” from $995 to $1,025. So customers who waited until this year to buy a cheap Supra will actually be paying $330 more than they would have last year.

Prices for the 3.0-liter Supra have risen even more. Starting at $51,640 ($52,665 w/ destination) in 2022, that’s $650 more than customers were paying in 2021, which was already $1,000 more than they were paying in 2020.

The GR Supra 3.0 Premium also gets a bit of a price bump for 2022, with an MSRP of $54,790 ($55,815 w/ destination), or $300 more than it cost last year. It gets a red leather-trimmed interior option and models equipped with the Premium Audio package get full-screen Apple Car Play.

Finally, the A91-Carbon Fiber Edition is new to the lineup and prices start at a whopping $63,280 ($64,305 w/ destination). The model is limited to just 600 examples, though, and is the most exclusive Mark V Supra to date. It features handmade carbon fiber accents, including a duckbill spoiler, a front splitter, and rockers. It also gets unique 19-inch wheels and can be finished in matte-gray Phantom, Absolute Zero White, or Nitro Yellow.

Like the other 3.0-liter Supras, it makes 382 hp (387 PS/285 kW) and can get to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds. The 2.0-liter model, meanwhile, develops 255 hp (259 PS/190 kW) and can reach highway speeds in just five seconds. Both make more power than they did in 2020 thanks to upgrades introduced last year.

As a nice added touch, every 2022 GR Supra comes with a complimentary one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), which gives them access to perks like discounted admission to NASA events and a free high-performance driving event.

The 2022 Toyota Avalon starts from $36,375 (excluding the $1,025 fee), making it $250 more expensive than last year’s model.

The full-size sedan is not available in AWD variants anymore, while the sporty TRD trim was also dropped from the range. Two months ago, Mercedes unveiled the AMG EQS 53 at the Munich Motor Show as the first electric vehicle to wear the AMG badge. Now, the German automaker has released pricing for it, and it’s about what you’d expect for a range-topping high-performance EV sedan.

The EQS 53 will start at £154,995 (equal to around $208,000 at current exchange rates) in the UK, or 55% more than the base EQS 450’s starting price of £99,995. Priced at £56,900 ($78,600) for the Sportback (£57,900/$80,000 or the saloon/sedan), the Launch Edition features additional standard kit such as the Driver Assistance pack, Adaptive suspension with Drive Select and Audi’s Comfort & Sound pack. 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid Arrives In The UK With Subtle Updates For More Refinement

Honda is introducing the new 2021 CR-V Hybrid to the UK market, which has been updated aesthetically to better fit with the company’s latest electrified model range and has been retuned in other areas.

The 2021 CR-V will be available in the UK only as a hybrid starting from December, which is when the first examples of the Japanese SUV will begin showing up at dealerships around the country with prices starting from £30,180.

The updated 2021 CR-V Hybrid features new blue-ringed H badges and Honda’s latest ‘e:HEV’ lettering to signify the electrified powertrain under the bonnet. Other updates include the new 18-inch wheels across the range, standard privacy glass from the SE models upwards, and wireless smartphone charging for the range-topping EX.

Under the skin, the only revisions are about some tweaks to the suspension, which has been retuned for “more linear handling responses” and to provide improved ride compliance. Furthermore, the variable-ratio electric steering has been refined to offer better low-speed maneuverability.

The hybrid powertrain remains unchanged, featuring a 2.0-liter i-VTEC petrol engine running on the Atkinson cycle combined with two electric motors for a total of 181 HP (184 PS). Honda’s innovative fixed-gear transmission claims to offer higher levels of refinement compared to CVTs, as well as better efficiency.

The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint comes in 8.8 seconds for the FWD version (AWD: 9.2 seconds), while top speed is set at 112 mph (180 km/h). CO2 emissions are rated from 151 g/km for the FWD models and 161 g/km for the all-wheel-drive ones.

2021 VW Tiguan R Is Quicker Than The First-Gen Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Coinciding with the European launch of the Tiguan R, Volkswagen has released the official specs of the sporty SUV, accompanied by a set of new images.

According to the official specs, the new VW Tiguan R needs only 4.9 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in the dedicated ‘R’ driving mode, a tenth of a second quicker than the first-generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, and will max out at 250 km/h (155 mph).

Power is supplied by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated at 320 PS (315 HP / 235 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. It drives the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring through a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.

Developed by the R division, the new Tiguan R features a specially tuned suspension, which features adaptively controlled shock absorbers, sits 10 mm (0.4 in) lower compared to the regular versions, and has 18-inch brake discs with the R logo on the front calipers. The sports exhaust system can be optionally upgraded to Akrapovic’s titanium exhaust, and the 20-inch wheels can be swapped for the 21-inch Estoril set.

The R design bumpers with aerodynamic enhancements, which can be had in body color or in high-gloss black, matte chrome side mirror caps, high-gloss black rear diffuser and black wheel arches draw a clear line between the standard Tiguans and the sporty model.

Further separating the Tiguan R from the rest of the range are the interior upgrades, such as the premium sports seats with integrated headrests, bespoke ‘R’ logo, carbon grey trim, background lighting, stainless steel pedals, and Digital Cockpit with a lap timer.

Pricing in Germany starts at €56,703.53 ($67,287), almost €28,500 ($33,820) more than the entry-level model, and just €3,207 ($3,806) shy of the bigger Touareg.

The Ariel Atom 4 Is Now Being Made In America And It’ll Cost You Nearly $75k

Ariel North America has started building the Atom 4 in the United States.

Largely identical to the European variant, the North American Atom 4 is built in Virginia and powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine sourced from the Honda Civic Type R.

The engine produces 320 hp (239 kW / 324 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque and is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. This setup enables the 1,350 lbs (612 kg) Atom to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds. If you keep your foot pinned to the floor, 100 mph (161 km/h) will come in 6.8 seconds and the Atom 4 will eventually top out at 162 mph (261 km/h).

The package also includes a limited-slip differential, an adjustable traction control system and an upgraded radiator.

While the powertrain carries over from the Euro-spec model, the American variant has a laminated windscreen, a front wiper and a revised suspension with Eibach springs and adjustable Bilstein dampers.

Staggered 16- and 17-inch wheels are standard, and they’re backed up by a market-specific braking system that features four-piston AP Racing calipers as well as 11.4 inch (290 mm) ventilated discs. Carbon fiber wheels are optional and they weigh nearly 50% less than the standard alloys. Customers can also opt for two-piece rotors and high-performance brake pads specifically designed for the track.

In the United States, pricing starts at $74,750. The performance package costs $7,995 and the car can also be equipped with upgraded suspensions, carbon fiber packages as well as track packs. If that hasn’t scared you off, Ariel is currently accepting deposits of $22,425.
